ALMT selects Thales to accelerate time to compliance with Brazil’s General Data Protection Law

Thales today announced that ALMT, the legislative branch of the state government of Mato Grosso, Brazil has selected the CipherTrust Data Discovery and Classification (DDC) solution to accelerate their compliance with the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD) to protect sensitive personal data.

ALMT was faced with the challenge of protecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII) against data leaks and improper use as result of its complex hybrid infrastructure and processes. Thales’ CipherTrust Data Discovery and Classification will provide ALMT with complete visibility of their sensitive data, regardless of whether it resides in the cloud, data lakes or traditional environments. The visibility of their sensitive data and the ability to apply the appropriate data security controls will enhance ALMT’s ability to comply with the requirements of LGPD and adopt measures to protect sensitive personal data from loss, unauthorized access, accidental or lawful destruction, and exposure.

“The data security journey begins with assessing where your data is and its sensitivity. We built the CipherTrust Data Security Platform to give customers like ALMT the confidence to securely manage their sensitive data at scale. This unified approach to data security accelerates the time to compliance while reducing risk,” said Todd Moore, Vice President, Data Security Products at Thales.

“At ALMT we are committed to safeguarding the privacy and protecting personal data in line with LGPD. The CipherTrust Data Security Platform provides peace of mind in the ever-evolving world of data privacy that we have full visibility into where our sensitive data resides and that we are taking appropriate actions to ensure that data is protected. The CipherTrust Data Security Platform integrates with our diverse ecosystem of database, storage, and cloud vendors so that we can effectively analyze risk and eliminate security blind spots across our enterprise,” said André Luiz Souza, Information Technology Officer at ALMT.

São Paulo-based Thales partner, Servidigital, provided ALMT with complementary services to implement the CipherTrust DDC solution, leveraging their expertise in governance, data security, and LGPD compliance.

“We are proud of our partnership with Thales to streamline and accelerate data privacy operations for customers in Brazil. Our combined approach brings together CipherTrust’s market-leading data security technology with Servidigital’s expertise in governance and implementation to help organizations like ALMT Bank simplify the data privacy compliance process and strengthen their security posture,” Hermann Drummod, Sales Director at Servidigital.

The CipherTrust Data Security Platform will enable ALMT to automate data visibility and risk posture as it will:

  • Discover, protect and control PII data from a single platform.
  • Automate and streamline data remediation and workflow from policy configuration, discover, and classification to risk analysis and reporting.
  • Simplify compliance and improve data risk posture by tokenizing all PII before storing it in non-production environments.
