February 8, 2011

Thales And CSA Will Work Together To Define Best Practice For Data Centric Security

Thales, leader in information systems and communications security, announces that it has joined the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), a not-for-profit organization of experts focused on best practices and education around the security of cloud computing.

Thales will contribute its expertise in network encryption, storage key management and application level security to the CSA’s initiatives and working groups to further the alliance’s goals of developing and promoting security best practices for cloud computing.

“Cloud computing continues to gain momentum as economic pressure drives organizations to reduce costs, however privacy concerns and regulation over sensitive data mean that security in the cloud is a very real issue”, says Franck Greverie, Thales vice president in charge of information technology security activities. “Cloud security relies on data centric protection – confidentiality, integrity and authentication – all of which are underpinned by cryptography. As a member of the CSA, we look forward to contributing our expertise in cryptography and data protection to develop best practices for organizations looking to move to the cloud.”

“Protecting data is one of Thales’s core capabilities and an area where they have considerable pedigree,” says Jim Reavis, executive director and co-founder of the CSA. "The Cloud Security Alliance welcomes Thales’s leadership and expertise and we look forward to working with them to develop a framework that ensures the security and availability of cloud computing.”
