Thales Partners With Canon ITS To Deliver Seamless Enterprise-wide Data Encryption To The Japanese Market

October 27, 2016

SAN JOSE, Calif. – October 27, 2016 – Thales, a leader in critical information systems, cybersecurity and data protection announced today that Canon IT Solutions Inc. (Canon ITS), a group company under Canon MJ IT Group Holdings Inc., will distribute the Vormetric Data Security Platform of products in Japan. The high-performance Vormetric Data Security Platform enables compliance and business agility by securing data across environments and applications. Its seamless and scalable platform is the most effective way to protect data wherever it resides—any file, database and application in any environment.

“93% of Japanese organizations feel vulnerable to data threats, up from 86% from last year," said Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Vormetric Products, Stephen Driggers. "Thales’ Vormetric Data Security Platform of products, combined with Canon IT's depth in system integration, IT Security strength, customer relationships and market knowledge will help us to meet the needs of Japanese organizations to protect critical data, wherever it resides in their internal IT or cloud service environments."

Canon’s highly qualified IT consultants are now able to sell, market and support Thales’ Vormetric Data Security Platform of products, enabling Canon ITS to help Japanese enterprises to protect critical data to meet needs for compliance and data breach prevention, as well as protection of intellectual property (IP) and financial assets. The Vormetric Data Security Platform deploys with a single infrastructure and management environment, resulting in minimal deployment costs and resource requirements. Products available on the platform include:

  • Vormetric Transparent Encryption – Protects data-at-rest at the OS and file system level with encryption, access control, data access audit logs and data access monitoring information across data center, cloud and hybrid environments. When used with patented Vormetric Live Data Transformation, applications do not even need to be taken offline to establish or maintain protection.
  • Vormetric Application Encryption – Enables developers to easily encrypt individual fields, columns and files that contain sensitive information within their application environments.
  • Vormetric Tokenization with Dynamic Data masking – Helps organizations reduce the cost of PCI DSS and other compliance initiatives by removing sensitive data from production, test and development environments.
  • Vormetric Protection for Teradata Database – Secures sensitive data within Teradata database and integrated Big Data Platform environments.
  • Vormetric Cloud Encryption Gateway – Enables enterprises to offer users and business units safe, secure access to cloud storage environments such as Amazon’s AWS S3 and Box
  • Vormetric Key Management – Secures and manages 3rd party encryption keys and digital certificates, including for cloud and SaaS solutions such as Salesforce.

“Japan is a rapid growth region for Thales, and especially for our Vormetric products. Having Canon ITS as part of our partner ecosystem will further strengthen our ability to offer these critical solutions in Japan.” said Mike Coffield, vice president of channels. “Their experience and expertise in Japanese markets, combined with strong enterprise relationships will be instrumental in helping Thales achieve our goals in the short and long term.”
