Thales Strengthens Commitment To Data Security Market In Germany, Austria And Switzerland

February 21, 2017

Thales, a global leader in critical information systems, cybersecurity and data security, is strengthening its business and commitment to the cybersecurity market in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (D-A-CH) with new executive appointments to its team.

Thales already has an established presence in the region, offering advanced data security solutions to both enterprise and government, and the announcement of new personnel in the region comes in response to the increasing demand to protect critical information and meet the growing number of privacy-driven regulations such as The European Commission’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the European regulation on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions (eIDAS).

Dipl.-Kfm. Kai Zobel is appointed Regional Sales Director for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, a seasoned IT professional who has a deep understanding of the security market as well as meeting customer needs. Previously at Fortinet, he has also held senior positions at Cisco, Skybox, CA, Verizon and Safenet. Andreas Moewes, Edgar Kary and Hildegard von Waldenfels are appointed as Senior Sales Managers and Jürgen Schopper joins as Channel Manager for the D-A-CH region. They join the existing team of Senior Sales Engineers Michael Loger and Bernd Stamp, Senior Sales Manager Joachim Brandt and Business Development Manager Mario Galatovic.

Thales solutions ensure that company and government data is secure and trusted in any environment – on premise, in the cloud, in data centres and in big data environments – without sacrificing business agility. With the recent acquisition of Vormetric Data Security, Thales provides everything an organization needs to protect and manage its data, identities and intellectual property and meet regulatory compliance – through encryption, advanced key management, tokenization, privileged user control and meeting the highest standards of certification for high assurance solutions.

Kai Zobel, Regional Sales Director D-A-CH for Thales says:

“Cyber-crime around the world is becoming ever more frequent as companies continue the trend in moving to digital technology, resulting in businesses and government agencies alike requiring more advanced techniques to deal with the wide array of cyber threats. According to a recent report by 451 Research 95% of Germans felt vulnerable to an attack on their data with 45% feeling very or extremely vulnerable. I’m delighted to have joined Thales and brought on board such a strong new team, especially at a time when data security is becoming both more critical and more in demand.”

Peter Carlisle, Vice President Sales EMEA for Thales eSecurity, says:

"Thales has a global reputation as a leader in advanced data security solutions and these new executive appointments confirm the commitment of Thales to support our customers as they set on their path to digital transformation – delivering trust wherever information is created, stored or shared. We are delighted to welcome our recent appointments to the team here in the D-A-CH region and look forward to building on our legacy here, both a part of our commitment to supporting existing customers and also to further expand our business in the region.”

Thales eSecurity’s data security solutions, including the Thales portfolio, are distributed in the D-A-CH region by the distribution partner Wick Hill + Zycko, part of the Nuvias Group.
