Thales will be present at the 2 nd International Forum on Cybercrime (IFC 08) in Marcq-en-Baroeul, Lille, France, on Thursday 20 March to showcase its innovative solutions and lead a workshop entitled Cybercrime buster: trustware and investigation.
As a provider of state-of-the-art information and communication system security solutions and data acquisition, processing and analysis technologies, Thales has partnered the French Gendarmerie in its efforts to combat new forms of cybercrime.
The rapid transition to digital communications and data exchange in recent years has led to a sharp rise in digital delinquency and the use of all possible computerised channels for criminal purposes: industrial espionage, bank fraud, data leakage, etc. These are just some of the threats that the French Gendarmerie is seeking to address.
Thales is a long-standing partner of the Gendarmerie and is supporting this effort by bringing to the table its unique capabilities and know-how in the analysis and security of information exchange.
Thales solutions at IFC 08 include:

As part of the IFC 08 programme, Thales will lead a workshop entitled Cybercrime buster: trustware and investigation. The workshop will discuss different ways to counter cybercrime under two broad headings:
- Preventive: provision of trust-based information systems and support to ensure permanent high levels of security
- Offensive: examination of the methods used to intercept new modes of communication and efficient/useful analysis of the information gathered
NB: The French Gendarmerie recently chose Thales to supply its new Athen@ information system for operational control and intelligence. In partnership with EADS, Thales will this year develop the first secure classified intranet for the French Ministry of Defence and armed forces.
