Thales Introduces TEOPAD

October 16, 2008

A security solution for managers on the move

Thales introduces TEOPAD, a new solution for mobile phones, meeting the expectations of today's business for secure communications.

Mobility solutions are a reality for today's business world. Globalization and increased productivity have radically transformed the way in which information is exchanged. Using their mobile phones and peripherals, employees can stay connected, even when traveling, so that they can send and receive often strategically vital documents. Hence secure communications and data protection become a major concern.

TEOPAD, the built-in security solution for mobile phones from Thales, now provides secure access and exchange of information at any time and in any situation. TEOPAD combines all the vital security facilities that Smartphones need, such as safe access authentication, secure telephone calls (GSM, GPRS, EDGE and UMTS) and e-mails, as well as protecting data stored on the device itself.

“Confidentiality and secure exchange of data are central to the concerns of business today, faced with new challenges resulting from the mobility of employees,” said Franck Greverie, Information Systems Security Director at Thales. “ With TEOPAD, Thales is offering a trailblazing solution able to guarantee complete confidentiality for communications and information. ”

An independent assessment by certified consultants has confirmed the very high security level of the TEOPAD solution. All the TEOPAD security functions are based on the chip card, with Common Criteria evaluation level EAL5+. And for even greater security, the removable chip card has an encrypted 512Mb of memory so the user can store more sensitive data separate from the device.

TEOPAD is compatible with off-the-shelf devices, running Windows Mobile (communications PDA, Smartphone, mobile phone), and is easy to install from an automatic facility on the chip card.
