Oracle Veteran Jonathan Intner will Explain Data Security Pitfalls and How Database Administrators Can Avoid Them
WHO: Jonathan Intner, Solution Architect for Vormetric. Mr. Intner is an expert in information security and database administration for the Oracle platform. He currently helps large enterprises architect and deploy database encryption solutions. Mr. Intner has held senior database security, design, and administration roles with several leading pharmaceutical companies, software vendors, and a large testing lab. He earned an M.S. from Boston University and a B.S. in computer science from Columbia University.
WHAT: Database administrators (DBAs) are challenged as never before with maintaining sensitive data stored in Oracle databases and meeting regulatory compliance requirements. Yet many DBAs are not familiar with encryption and the importance of encryption key management. Without appropriate controls, confidential data is vulnerable to unintended disclosure and theft. In this session, entitled Key Management and Sensitive Data for DBAs, Mr. Intner will present an overview of data security concepts, challenges and best practices that every DBA should be familiar with. Attendees will learn:
- Encryption key management pitfalls and how to establish and maintain key management best practices in Oracle environments
- Tips on locating and encrypting sensitive data in and around the Oracle database, including often-overlooked locations that can compromise security
- How to ensure sensitive data meets security requirements prescribed by regulatory mandates
