Taipei, Taiwan – April 25, 2013 – IISI today announced the signing of an agreement with Vormetric, the leader in enterprise data security, to become its distribution partner in Taiwan. As Vormetric looks to continue its explosive growth in the Asia Pacific region and sign up more partners for its market-leading data protection platform, Vormetric Data Security, the company has turned to IISI to engage, educate, enable and energise resellers in Taiwan.
As part of this announcement, Bruce Johnson, vice president of global sales and services at Vormetric, presented a breakthrough strategy of data-centric protection to defend against advanced persistent threats (APTs) at Info Security 2013 conference in Taiwan. According to Johnson, the APT threat has amplified the risk to valuable data, and countering this threat is best done with a “defence in depth” security strategy focused on data-centric protection. The protective layers include encryption, access control and reporting functions to reduce the enterprise risk profile. Such a data-centric security mechanism consists of strong encryption at the individual file level combined with access controls that monitor and control privileged user access to sensitive data. The defence in depth strategy typically includes Database Access Monitoring (DAM) and Web Application Firewall (WAF) technologies to successfully stop hackers from stealing data and prevent security incidents.
According to the new security control mechanism Johnson shared at Info Security 2013, Vormetric Data Security combines encryption, key management, fine-grained access control and powerful reporting functions, enabling enterprises and organizations to thoroughly protect sensitive data stored on their servers. Vormetric Encryption combines encryption and integrated key management, supporting major operating system platforms such as Linux, Unix and Windows, and can be used in physical, virtual and cloud environments. Vormetric Encryption secures any data type – both structured database information and unstructured files, such as pdfs, spreadsheets, scripts, images, audio/video recordings and extract-transform-load (ETL) data. Furthermore, Vormetric’s file-level encryption approach is transparent to applications and databases, significantly avoiding the burden of application changes. Vormetric's key management function provides enterprises with a Separation of Duties (SoD) function to meet the global compliance rules, including Taiwan’s Personal Data Protection Act and PCI DSS.
