As more countries and organizations start to address data sovereignty issues, they are looking at ways to ensure their data is secure. Control and privacy of this data by European governments was a major factor in the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). With the invalidation of the EU-US Privacy Shield in 2020 by the Schrems II ruling by the Court of Justice of the European Union, digital sovereignty became a pressing topic at major enterprises. Around the world, even between EU member states, digital sovereignty is becoming an issue. This is compelling organizations to apply key management and encryption solutions to meet these mandates.
