From May 9 to May 12, 2023, Berlin will host the European Identity and Cloud Conference (EIC), organized by industry analyst KuppingerCole. The EIC conference is where the digital identity and cyber community come together to set the course for the future of digitization.

The hybrid event will help you get actionable insights for your digitization journey, build strategic partnerships for your business, and enjoy connecting with your colleagues and peers worldwide. You can get insights in over 180 sessions, extend your network with more than 1,000 experts, and enjoy unlimited networking opportunities in Germany’s capital. You may read the event agenda here.

Thales will have a strong presence at the Conference, with our executives discussing pressing issues around identity management, customer IAM, and authentication. To help you navigate the agenda and mark your calendar, here’s where and when you can listen to our Thales CIAM experts.

The 3 Dimensions of Digital Sovereignty

Maarten Stultjens, our VP Global Enablement IAM, will deliver a keynote on the 3 Dimensions of Digital Sovereignty on Tuesday, May 09, 2023, from 17:40—18:00, immediately after the speech delivered by Max Schrems on EU-US Data Transfers - Where are we now?

Digital sovereignty has become an important topic for individuals and a strategic issue for countries and businesses, allowing them to operate in an environment they trust and can control. This necessitates technology that is not overly reliant on third parties, where there is a risk of misuse of trust or non-compliance. Maarten will explore 3 dimensions of digital sovereignty related to identity: Sovereignty of the Individual, Geopolitical Sovereignty, and Organizational Sovereignty.

The B2B IAM Gap

On the event’s last day, don’t leave without listening to Marco Venuti, IAM Business Acceleration Director. Marco will discuss the B2B IAM Gap Between Modern Demands and Current Practices on Friday, May 12, 2023, from 11:45—12:00.

Most enterprises nowadays need to grant access to multiple business partners daily as they heavily rely on online interactions with one another. Thus, an ever-expanding, interconnected digital ecosystem emerges, the complexities of which frequently result in operational inefficiencies, security risks, increased administrative costs, and unintuitive user experiences. These challenges are long-lived in the B2B identity management space. Yet still today, many organizations continue to struggle using outdated, homegrown, and oftentimes error-prone centralized IAM systems.

This session will unwrap modern, decentralized solution trends in the fast-growing segment of IAM using real-life use cases. It will also explore best practices for digital access and delegation management for business partners - seamlessly and securely at scale.

Zero Trust and FIDO2

Interested to learn more about FIDO2? Join our Product Marketing Manager, Sarah Lefavrais, and Thomas Detzner from Microsoft on Wednesday, May 10th at 12:30, when they discuss FIDO2: Zero Trust in action with Passwordless Phishing Resistant Authentication.

Organizations recognize the need to protect better data and applications with modern access management and authentication. Thales and Microsoft partner to help organizations going passwordless to fight against phishing attacks. Thales and Microsoft experts will discuss the role of FIDO and other phishing-resistant authentication methods like CBA in achieving a Zero Trust approach.

Combined Session with Industry Leaders

Besides the keynote speeches, Thales executives will participate in various combined sessions with other cybersecurity and identity management industry leaders.

Ward Duchamps, our VP of Digital Identity and Security, will participate in the panel discussion What happens when applications don’t use the identity standards we have built on Thursday, May 11, 2023, from 14:30—15:00. The panel will discuss these reasons and other potential causes for developers not using OAuth 2.0 correctly and provide recommendations for overcoming these challenges.

Ward Duchamps will also participate in another session on Friday, May 12, 2023, from 12:10—12:30, whose topic is Covering Your Customer Identity Needs - The Way Forward. The Art of CIAM is to converge user experience (UX), security, and privacy in a seamless and unobtrusive way. In this panel session, industry leaders will discuss the role of decentralized technologies, biometrics, and AI in digital ID, allowing for more secure and efficient authentication processes.

Finally, Maarten Stultjens joins an expert panel to discuss Policy-Based Access, Just-in-Time IAM, Next-Gen IAM - Getting Rid of Roles and Recertification. This session will take place on Thursday, May 11, 2023, from 11:00—11:40. In this panel session, industry leaders will discuss nothing less than the future of Access Management to address many of the pain points experienced by organizations today by enabling a centralized, consistent, dynamic, on-demand (just-in-time) way of managing access to IT resources.
